Pond Construction

Pond Construction in Texas | Texas Premier Lake Management
Pond construction in Texas is more than digging a hole and waiting for water. The site, the soil, and the dam have to be right, or you end up with a muddy low spot that leaks the day it fills. Texas Premier Lake Management includes new pond construction and pond renovation as part of our whole-pond service, so the company that builds your pond is the same one that stocks it, aerates it, and keeps it healthy for years to come.
Cameron Fourrier walks the property with you, reads the soil and the lay of the land, and scopes the job on site. We are owner-led, licensed, and fully insured.

What Our Pond Construction Service Includes
We handle new ponds and stock tanks, pond renovations, deepening and clearing, dam and spillway work, sealing a pond so it holds water, and erosion control. Cameron scopes the job on site and tells the crew exactly what your pond needs.
Building the pond is only the first chapter. Once the water is holding, the same company fills it with a stocking plan built around your goals and can add a dock or fishing pier to finish it out.
Our Pond Construction Process
It starts with a phone call about your property and your goals. Then Cameron visits the site and reads the soil, the slope, and the drainage in person. You get a written plan with a clear design and scope, not a number scratched on a truck hood. Then the work gets done and documented, with follow-up after the pond fills. We handle the permitting questions along the way so you do not have to.

Why Building It Right Matters
for Texas Ponds
Texas dirt is not the same from one county to the next. Heavy clay that seals a pond in one county gives way to sandy ground a county over that will not hold water without help. Add drought, summer evaporation, and rain that comes all at once, and you can see why the site visit matters. A pond built right costs more than a pond built fast, and a pond built twice costs the most of all.
Who Pond Construction Helps
Ranch and acreage owners are the heart of what we do — new stock tanks and fishing ponds carved out of raw land, and tired old tanks brought back to life. HOAs and developers come to us for amenity and detention ponds that have to look good and function under the rules. Golf courses and commercial properties need water features and irrigation ponds built to last, and municipalities need impoundments that stay compliant. Whatever the property, the pond is designed around your goals, your ground, and your water.
Related Services
A new pond is the start of a longer project, and we carry it the whole way. Once the water is holding, the pond is ready for fish stocking, and many owners choose to add a dock or fishing pier to enjoy it. The smartest builds also get aeration designed into the build from the start, so the pond runs healthy from day one rather than being retrofitted later. We build and manage ponds for landowners statewide, including the ranch country around Bellville and the coastal prairie around El Campo.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do some ponds leak and not hold water?
Almost always it comes down to soil and compaction. A pond holds water when its bottom and dam are built from impervious, well-compacted clay; sandy or poorly compacted soil lets water seep right through. Where the native dirt will not seal on its own, we import and compact good clay or work in bentonite to tighten the leak.
Do I need a permit to build a pond in Texas?
In most cases a landowner can build a pond on their own property for domestic, livestock, and fish and wildlife use without a state water-rights permit, and most stock tanks and fishing ponds fall within that allowance. Larger dams can cross the thresholds where the state's dam-safety program applies, and any pond near a floodplain raises county-level questions. We handle the permitting questions and check your project against current rules before we build.
Can you fix or deepen an existing pond instead of building new?
Yes — renovation is a big part of what we do. We deepen shallow ponds that overheat and weed up, clear out brush, reseal leaks, and rebuild failing dams and spillways. Because the basin already exists, a renovation is often the smartest money a landowner can spend to turn a tired old pond into one that performs like new. In Texas, deeper is usually better — good depth holds water through a dry year, stays cooler, and is far less prone to choking with weeds.
